I have been sewing and sewing making handbags, clutches for my market stall which will be open every Sunday here in Galway in the St Nicolas market.
So far this blue velvet and woven Ikat tote bag is my favorite. It took me nearly a week to make and I hand-stitched it together too. Its made with my Indigo Stag Forest print cotton velvet fabric so beautiful and totally wearable as its a furnishing velvet.
This Ikat fabric was a gift from a friend and I love it the colors are gorgeous it glows!
I'm using up my precious stash of vintage as lining and handles to complement my original fabrics. This over sized beach tote bag is a sublime sky blue ombre. It has the cutest bluebell spring vintage fabric lining with a pocket inside. Massive enough to fit a laptop or your beach gear with lovely long straps so you can easily swing it about to carry your shopping.
I have began making small purses and bags, this Irish Ghost Estates Marin mix bag is lined with Irish Linen and features a gorgeous aloha vintage fabric handle.
All are available to buy in my etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/MariposaTextiles
I can make any of these bags in the print of your choice x Tara

Jurassic Traffic my new dinosaur range has arrived!!
Around this time last year I was asked by one of my best customers who had just recently become a mum if I would help her to refurbish a chair for the baby's room. The baby (more a toddler now probably) was a boy and his room had a green and purple theme. I started working on drawing dinosaurs using my son's massive collection of dino toys and books. It took ages absolutely ages for me to get the drawings done, its hard to draw realistic looking dinos and some of them are quite ugly. Plus my new found (rediscovered) obsession with drawing with my black marker didn't help, there is no erasing with the black marker! I have to admit that I found it quite a challenge, I had an idea but actually making it look the way I had envisioned took ages, I stopped and started with my client gently reminding me and at last they are done finished and here and I must say I am delighted with them! I only have 5 of them here now but there are more coming in other colorways and they will be available as a coordinating quarter bundle or individually as quarter, half or full yards. The series, Jurassic Traffic, will be my focus for the next few months so please bear with me while I promote them endlessly x Tara

I love the color purple, its the color of some of the most amazing things such as Purple Grape Soda, , the middle of the Agave cactus sometimes it pops up in the most amazing places such as the piles of Bluebells that spring up in my garden each spring, I don't know why they are called Bluebells they should be called purplebells cause they are seriously not blue but purple! I use purple a lot in my work and I love my new 'Grape Soda Space Girl' print its beautiful and would look so amazing in a baby nursery or as stunning curtains or wallpaper. Speaking of wallpaper I am in the process of getting ready to have my first wallpaper made. I am waiting at the moment for the samples of my new designs to come back before I go for it but I cant wait!!
Its getting close now to Paddy's day and I am trying to figure out what I am going to have as prize for my giveaway. Last year I gave away two all green fat quarter bundles, this year I am thinking of tossing the green theme and maybe going for a 'Green White & Gold' theme or I could just go for it give away a massive selection of other prints such as this gorgeous new ''Park Round The Block From Me' hmmmmm......... Any ideas guys?

Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year guys! and farewell to 2013 (thank god!!)
I am entering the new year with piles of plans big and small for the brand and I look forward to sharing them with you. Dont get me wrong I am glad to see the back of 2013 for various reasons but it was not all bad in 2013! In fact I can celebrate the fact that my work is now stocked in the lovely Galway shop, My Shop Granny likes It, and I will be doing the weekly Sunday Market so onwards and up!
In the meantime I have loads of amazing fabrics in stock which I will share some new prints and some old but all bright colorful and perfect for the crafts you are contemplating as part of the New year new you plan.
I am planning to overhaul my website (omg where to start) and plow on with trying to get my prints out there and into the hands of fabric hounds, quilters, interior designers, fashionistas and crafters everywhere xTara
